Sutherland 2000 Rub Tester: From Setting the Standard to Modern Day

The SUTHERLAND® 2000™ Rub Tester was developed in 1951, and has been an enduring constant in the world of rub testing. Some of the original rub testers are still running today proving just how durable our equipment is and how this small machine has shaped quality assurance in multiple industries including label testing, fabric fastness tests, ink testing, and much more. The SUTHERLAND® 2000™ Rub Tester even wrote the standard ASTM standard D-5264-98 2011 and TAPPI T-830.

So where did it all begin? The Sutherland paper company were the first manufacturers of what would become the modern day rub tester. From there the products applications outside of paper became evident. Brown Paper Company, James River Co, and finally, Danilee Co. have all taken ownership of manufacturing, repairing, and selling the original SUTHERLAND® 2000™ Rub Tester. All of these companies have understood the original machine’s durability set it completely apart.

Since 2016, we have introduced the Dual Rub Tester, allowing the testing of two items simultaneously, the Bottle Can Adapter, and Bottle Cap Adapter. We understand at Danilee, Co. that there is always room for improvement and the sky is the limit in what industries our product could be applicable.
